Lafayette Blue Springs State Park (South Entrance)

Cabins

A popular draw for this park is its five stilted cabins (one has an elevator to accommodate campers with disabilities). The one‑bathroom cabins allow for up to six people. There are two bedrooms — one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds — and the living room has a pull‑out sofa.
The L‑shaped screened‑in patio is a real treat. Out here, you’ll find a picnic table, a swinging seat, and rocking chairs. If you’re visiting in the warmer months, the ceiling fans offer a relieving breeze while you enjoy the view and the sounds of the forest. In the morning, you can catch the colors of the sunrise peeking out from behind the trees.
The ground level has an additional picnic table, a fire ring and grill.
The cabins have A/C, and an electric fireplace. Linens, towels, and kitchen basics are provided.

Swimming

The highlight of the park, the stunning first‑magnitude spring, features a limestone bridge separating the two swimming areas. With its consistent 72‑degree water, it’s a favorite destination for beating the Florida heat. Folks can make their way down to the spring via the stairs or the accessible ramp. Remember: there is no lifeguard on duty here.

Offering access to the incredible Suwannee River, the boat ramp sits between the cabins and the picnic area. It’s a convenient spot for launching boats, kayaks, and canoes, and there are spaces set aside specifically for trailer parking.

Pavilions & Picnic Tables

Lafayette Blue Springs State Park features 2 covered pavilions with grills. In addition to the pavilions, you can find picnic tables with grills scattered about the grounds.

Hiking Trail

The Green Sink hiking trail is a short outing, just under half a mile. Along the way, you’ll pass a few sinkholes and a water‑monitoring station, making it a quick but interesting walk for visitors who enjoy seeing the park’s geology up close.

Primitive camping is available on a first‑come, first‑served basis. The sites feature electricity, water, a charcoal grill, a fire ring, and a picnic table. In addition to the campground’s portable toilet, there is a stilted restroom across from the spring, where you’ll find open‑air, cold‑water showers.

All sites are pack‑in with no vehicle access. The walk to the primitive campground is around 1/8 mile, and you can ask the campground host about borrowing a wagon for hauling your gear.

The primitive youth group camping site sits along the Suwannee River. It features a portable toilet, picnic tables, and fire rings. This site is pack‑in with no vehicle access. Restrooms

The stilted restroom is equipped with an elevator. The restrooms also have open cold-water showers available for use.

Scuba Diving

The Green Cave System is popular with scuba divers. Visit the park website for all the rules and instructions for diving here.

Located in remote Mayo, FL, Lafayette Blue Springs State Park has very little light pollution, offering campers a chance to enjoy their nights stargazing. On clear evenings, the dark skies make it easy to spot bright stars and constellations.

Dog Friendly

Leashed dogs are welcome at Lafayette Blue Springs State Park. They must be kept leashed(6-foot maximum), should not be left unattended for longer than 30 minutes, and are not allowed in the cabins, buildings or the springs.
