At a little under 7-acres, Highland Nature Park is snuggled away in a residential neighborhood in Tarpon Springs. A fairly well shaded and quiet park, it boasts a slight gain in elevation and scenic boardwalk.
Boardwalk
Taking a quick walk along the park’s gravel trail, just over a small hill, will bring you to the start of an ADA-accessible boardwalk. The elevated walkway meanders through the trees, offering a brief and pleasant stroll. It leads out to a viewing deck where you can enjoy the scenic Lake Tarpon.
Take note: At times there is an enormous swarm of bugs (midges or mosquitos) toward the end of the boardwalk. Be prepared to flee in horror.
Picnic Tables
The park has a few picnic tables available for use, with one of them conveniently located behind the playground. There’s no grills here, so you will need to bring ready-to-eat foods.
Playground
A popular feature of the park is the playground, Despite its modest size, the playground packs plenty of fun for the little ones. You’ll find a few benches in this area to sit and watch the kids while they play.
Dog Friendly
Leashed dogs are welcome here. For your convenience, there is a doggie waste station located near the park entrance.
Restroom
The restroom can be found nearby the playground and the park’s bike rack.
