If you’re looking for a place to enjoy nature, exercise, and have fun with your family and friends, Eagle Lake Park in Largo might be the perfect destination for you.
Picnic Shelters
When you want to have a picnic or a barbecue, you can choose from six covered picnic shelters, with five of them available for reservation(picnic shelter #1 near the Paw Park can not be reserved). Each shelter has grills, picnic tables, a prep-table, trash cans, recycling bins, and a water spigot. In addition to the covered shelters, there are also several open-air picnic tables and grills scattered throughout the park for your convenience.
Paw Playground (Dog Park)
A beloved feature of the park is its Paw Playground dog park. There are 3 fenced areas that make up the dog park, one area is for small dogs, and there are two fenced off sections for large dogs. All 3 areas have a water spigot and bowl to keep your furry buddy hydrated, and baggies to clean up after them. While the two large dog sections are very well shaded, the area for the small dogs is very sunny.
One of the picnic shelters, a bathroom and the Little Free Library are located in this part of the park.
Recreation Trail
The park features a paved 12-foot wide recreation trail that loops around the lake and wetlands. You can walk, run, bike, or rollerblade on this trail while admiring the scenic views and wildlife. The trail is fairly well shaded by trees and has benches along the way. In addition to the paved trail, there are shell paths for walking and enjoying nature.
One thing to note is that the park is close to a busy road, so you might hear some traffic noise from most parts of the park.
Playground
Kids will love the playground at Eagle Lake Park, which has swings, slides, climbing structures, and more. The playground is fenced in and shaded by trees. There is a nearby open-air picnic table & grill, a picnic shelter and one of the fishing piers. There is also a restroom and water fountain at the playground.
Boardwalks
For a closer look at the lake and wetlands, you can explore the 2,000 feet of boardwalks that extend over the water. You can see turtles, ducks, and other animals from the boardwalks. You can also learn more about the park’s history and ecology from the interpretive signs along the way.
Little Free Library
If you’re looking for something to read while relaxing at the park, you can check out the free little library located near the dog park. It’s a small wooden box that contains books that you can take or exchange for free.
Fishing Piers
If you enjoy fishing, you can try your luck at one of the four fishing piers in the park. The piers are catch and release only, and you need to bring your own fishing gear. Fishing is not allowed from the banks or the boardwalks.
Restrooms
The park has three restrooms in total, located near the dog park, the playground, and between picnic shelters 1 and 2.
